Snap is soaring, Meta is plummeting. As Evelyn Mitchell-Wolf said after the TikTok bill news, Mercury is definitely in retrograde. Here’s my takeaways: ✨ Snap is no stranger to wild market reactions, but this time, it’s finally upside. I’ve been optimistic about Snap throughout its revenue struggles. It’s taken time, but the work it has put into its ad business is starting to pay off. ✨ Investors aren’t happy with Meta’s rising costs, especially with the weaker revenue guidance. But they should be happy about the state of Meta’s ad business. It’s solid, and a lot of the growth story is AI. That bodes well for its broader AI ambitions, especially as monetization will be a key factor in who emerges as a winner in the AI race. And Meta could be a winner in more ways than one in this new digital reality. I joined Edward Ludlow on Bloomberg Technology this morning to talk about how Meta would be the biggest beneficiary of a TikTok ban and what its chances are in AI.
